You’ve probably heard of anal orgasms, as either fact or fiction, and we’re here to tell you that they’re real, they’re possible, and they’re just as pleasurable! We’re not just talking about the physical benefits (tighter muscles, increased blood flow), but also mental and emotional benefits like increased happiness, lower stress levels, and better sleep. But what if you’re having trouble achieving anal orgasm? Or what if your partner is having trouble?

It’s okay! There’s nothing wrong with you or your partner—you just need a few tips on how to get there.

The first thing you should know is that different types of stimulation will increase your chances of reaching anal orgasm. For example, for individuals assigned male at birth, prostate stimulation can be incredibly pleasurable (and can even lead to ejaculation!). In individuals with vulvas, toys and fingers can be incredibly helpful in increasing arousal and building up to an orgasm. Different bodies respond differently to touch—so experiment with a variety of things in order to find what works best for you and your partner(s).

We’re all different, and we all enjoy different things!

That’s why it’s so important to prioritize communication, consent, and comfort in any sexual activity. It’s also important to explore new experiences at a pace that feels comfortable and enjoyable for you and your partner(s).

If you continue to have difficulty achieving orgasm, you can always reach out to a sex coach or therapist who are there to provide additional guidance and support.
