Laurén O’Brien, LCSW

Laurén O’Brien (pronounced La-Ren) LCSW collaborates with clients seeking to unburden themselves of sexual shame and address the relational challenges that have developed due to sexual behaviors or identities. She specializes in working with individuals and groups to provide non-judgmental, strength-based, trauma-informed, affirmative support to people who might not have found it in previous clinical experiences. Laurén believes that your sexual health is an intrinsic part of your overall well-being and will help you to develop approaches to living in alignment with your values while meeting your sexual needs.

Laurén O’Brien is an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW108326) at Los Angeles Sex Therapy, under the supervision of Moushumi Ghose, LMFT (LMF44134). She received her Master of Social Work from Boston University School of Social Work and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. She has completed over 200 hours of training toward her certification in Couples and Sex Therapy from the Sexual Health Alliance. She is a member of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). Laurén comes from a background working as a forensic sexologist, and she is knowledgeable regarding risk management, the good lives model, and the unique challenges faced by individuals and their loved ones who come into contact with these systems. Her modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychoeducation, Mindfulness, and Harm Reduction Strategies.
